Claddagh Ring.

This is Katie's pre-engagement ring she wore to signify our promise to one another. I proposed to Katie on our 3rd date at Buster Belly's Bar and "Deli" (I think it is already self-evident that I am one cheesy individual). I got on one knee, grabbed her hand and placed a cocktail napkin that I had folded with my clammy hands into something that at least resembled a ring. Then I asked her to marry me, 10 years from that moment.

We still have ~eight years.

History of Ring:
The Claddagh Ring was designed in the middle of the 17th century in an Irish fisherman's village (Name of village same as the name of the ring). This ring was given as a token of love by the fisherman to his wife. The hands stand for friendship, the heart for love and the crown for fidelity. The ring is often passed on from mother to daughter. This ring can also be worn as a wedding ring and is still being worn today by people all over the world.

Katie received this ring from her mother.

The ring I was going to get for her when it was financially feasible was the Frank Gehry® Torque ring (image provided below).

***My research was done quickly. At random times, there might be corrections made when I find out I was either wrong or my source was a 12 year old kid on Myspace.
